Position summary: The Social and Digital Media Intern plays an active role in the development of Remar’s online community. The intern maintains Remar’s presence on various social media platforms and helps create and publish content that is relevant to our customer base. He/she regularly analyzes and reports on the activity on social media networks as well as the Remar website. He/she also assists in maintaining Remar’s archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The intern will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.

Essential functions:


Social Media:

  • Updates Remar’s social media accounts.
  • Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with Remar.
  • Posts updates, news, and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our customer base and posts it to our Facebook and Twitter page in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
  • Updates Remar Facebook and Twitter accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from Remar activities and events.
  • Grows Remar online social networks by increasing fan base and interactions.
  • Maintains current information in Google+ and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Completes other social media projects as assigned.


Digital Media:

  • Takes pictures and videos to be developed into content for the Remar website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Uploads Remar photos and videos to the appropriate server or DropBox account.
  • Organizes and archives digital images and videos.
  • Completes other digital media projects as assigned.



  • Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on “social media best practices”.
  • Completes other research projects as assigned.


Analytics and Reporting: 

  • Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the Remar website.
  • Uses Facebook Insights to assess trends and activity on the Remar Facebook page.
  • Uses Twitter Analytics to assess trends and activity on the Remar Twitter page.
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach.



  • Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knows and follows policies and procedures in Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and experience:

  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo-editing and video-editing software, and internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
  • Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.


Physical requirements:

  • Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.


Working conditions:

Well-lighted, heated, indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.


Work schedule/hours:

Flexible hours (up to 20 hours per week) or as directed by supervisor.
Overtime as required.

Remar to Acquire Prospect’s Packaging and Fulfillment Business

December 1, 2016

Prospect, a non-profit that provides support services to individuals with disabilities, announced in Mid-November that they are closing their packaging and fulfillment work center effective November 30th.  Remar is excited to announce that it is assuming Prospect’s packaging and fulfillment accounts and will be hiring several of Prospect’s employees whose positions have been eliminated.

As the state of Tennessee calls to close sheltered workshops, with the hopes of integrating people with disabilities into inclusive work environments, Prospect made the decision to close their work center. They have decided to focus their efforts on Prospect’s employment, day service, residential, and child development programs.

Remar, an industry-leading warehousing, fulfillment and packaging organization, who has had a long-standing working relationship with Prospect, is acquiring Prospect’s work center customers and a number of employees effective December 1.

Much of the day to day operations will remain the same, however, there will be some changes, for example bringing in a state-of-the-art warehouse management system to help run the operations.

When the opportunity to assume Prospect’s customers and hire their team members arose, Remar felt it was a perfect fit.  Diversity is important to Remar as a minority owned business.  The opportunity to expand our workforce to incorporate people with disabilities is another way to become a more inclusive organization and support the community at the same time

This is a win for everyone. Prospect’s customers will see very little change in the operations and there will be a seamless transition from Prospect to Remar. Many of Prospect’s employees will continue to do the work they have been trained in and are skilled at without fear of losing their employment. Prospect will get to focus on their mission and finding competitive employment that pays at least minimum wage for people with disabilities in the Lebanon area. And, Remar is expanding not only its business but is becoming an even more inclusive organization.

Hurricane Matthew Service Alert

We have just heard from many of our carries about the impact that Hurricane Matthew may have in their service areas. Here is what they are saying:


unknownFedEx is closely monitoring Hurricane Matthew. Contingency plans are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our their members and to minimize the effects of the storm on service. These storms often cause pickup and delivery delays and disruptions for FedEx customers. FedEx will be prepared to provide service to the best of their ability in areas affected by the storm and as local conditions allow.

The U.S. Postal Service is monitoring the progress of Hurricane Matthew. With its current track, the hurricane is poised to have significant impacts along the Florida coast and northward into Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In preparation, they have begun to take the necessary steps to prepare for the storm.

As the impacts to postal operations are identified, updated information will be posted to the USPS Alerts website accessed through the RIBBS webpage,, and


Hurricane Matthew is impacting service in areas of the Southeast this week and their team is monitoring weather conditions. At this time, there will be no pickups or deliveries today in affected areas of South Carolina where immediate evacuations have been ordered.

They will work to ensure the safety of their employees and to not impact evacuation routes while minimizing effects on service. Contingency plans are being implemented to ensure that shipments arrive at their final destinations as quickly as conditions permit.

At this time, Florida is fully operational and their team will continue to assess conditions and decisions by the local authorities.

Visit for the latest information about service impacts and to track the status of your packages. As they assess local conditions during the storm they will post ZIP codes where no pickups or deliveries are being made, which will be updated as new information becomes available.


DHL Express is currently monitoring Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to impact areas from Florida to coastal Georgia and the Carolinas with flooding and damaging winds. Although some areas may experience unavoidable shipment delays, DHL has been proactively managing its network to minimize these delays and will provide local DHL pickup and delivery services in areas that can be safely accessed and where conditions allow.

They encourage those within the areas of impact to take all necessary measures to remain safe and heed the warnings of local, state and federal authorities.

The DHL Express International Service Guarantee does not apply for late shipment delivery of DHL Express shipments caused by natural disasters.
